Official Apex Reviews Interview: Renee Wiggins (Transformations)
Apex Reviews: Thanks for joining us for this interview, Diane. We're looking forward to sharing more about your book with our readers.
What inspired you to compile this inspiring collection of insightful affirmations?
Renee Wiggins: I was inspired by my own experiences, as well by experiences of my friends, colleagues, family members and co-workers. Plus, I’m a big fan of books of inspiration and affirmations and I love having them around me. These writings lift my spirits and encourage me in my daily living. It is my hope that my book will provide that same necessary support to others.
AR: Please explain for our readers the significance of the book's title.
RW: For months, I worked on the title for the book. I was looking for a title that would encourage the reader to embrace change in their life and not run from it. Change is good, and that’s what I wanted people to understand from the title and from every page of the book.
AR: Why do you think it's so difficult for people to persevere through the storms of life?
RW: I believe that some people crumble under pressure because of little faith. And sometimes they hold onto the storm as a way of punishing themselves. They don’t realize that storms aren’t supposed to last always, they’re supposed to last only for a while.
Remember Hurricane Katrina and the tsunami in the Indian Ocean? As devastating as those situations were, the next day the sun came out. We have to understand that these storms don’t last forever. Storms clear away old habits, relationships, and the negative attitudes and make room for the new.
AR: So, are storms actually good for us in the long run?
RW: Yes, they are. Oftentimes a storm is the Lord’s way of preparing you for the next step. There are times when God has to send a storm your way, so that the air is made clearer and you can see your way to a better situation. The storm often make us wiser, better and stronger.
AR: What kinds of reactions have readers had to the book thus far?
RW: Everyone I have spoken with has mentioned that they can easily identify with one or more of the affirmations in my collection. Some have taken their favorites and written them down to help ensure that they remember to apply them in their daily lives.
AR: What's the main message that you'd like readers to take away from the collection?
RW: The main message of Transformation: Give Up The Struggle is that change is not the worst thing in your life and that if you pay close attention to your storm, you’ll likely realize that there’s a life lesson in it for you.
AR: Please share more with us about your publishing company, Results By Renee.
RW: I want to write self-help, inspirational books to motivate, encourage, and uplift women and men who want to change their lives for the better.
AR: What are your future writing/publishing aspirations?
RW: So far I have started on four additional books, as well as an affirmation deck card set. The next book to be published is called “Transformations; Dancing through the Storm.” This book will be a collection of stories told to me by other people on how they managed to dance through their storms. Following that book will be one on snacking, as I’m concerned about the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. This book will be designed to help people becoming more choosy about the snacks they eat and an emphasis, of course, will be placed upon tasty, healthy choices.
AR: In addition to being an author, you're also a licensed Dietitian and certified Personal Fitness Trainer. Please share more with us about your endeavors in those fields.
RW: My mission in life is to reduce the chronic illnesses in the community today by helping people change to healthier lifestyles. I do this by helping them develop good exercise and eating habits and through my books. I’m currently the lay pastor of the Healthy Temple Ministry at my church and we’re proud to be growing our own vegetable garden. Our overall goal is to increase awareness about eating more vegetables and using herbs to season foods instead of salt.
I also work with people at all fitness levels to develop exercise plans that they can work into their schedules. In fact, my first book, “Can I Exercise Sitting Down”, was written to show people that anyone can exercise! There really is no excuse not to exercise, and doing so is vitally important to your physical and your mental health.
AR: Please share more with us about the medical lifestyle spa that you founded to help improve the overall quality of people's lives.
RW: My medical lifestyle Spa is devoted to working with persons who are overweight, who have diabetes, who have hypertension, and who suffer with high blood cholesterol levels. I want to show them they can still eat collard greens without the fat and that exercising can be fun.
AR: How can our readers learn more about you and your ongoing efforts?
